Princess Charlotte could be set on becoming the \u201cnext Princess Anne\u201d after Prince William takes on the role of monarch, it has been reported.<\/p>\n
When the time comes for her father to ascend the throne, Charlotte, 9, could take on Princess Anne\u2019s current title of Princess Royal.<\/p>\n
The title is typically bestowed to the monarch\u2019s eldest daughter. This means as William\u2019s only daughter, she could likely take the title. Thus it is not likely it would get passed down to Princess Anne\u2019s own daughter, Zara Tindall.<\/p>\n

Despite this, it\u2019s not a guarantee that Charlotte will take on the title as it is typically awarded rather than inherited. Princess Anne, 74, was given the title by Queen Elizabeth II in 1987. She was 36 years old at the time.<\/p>\n
The title of Princess Royal can only be granted to one living woman \u2013 which is why Queen Elizabeth never held it.<\/p>\n

Her aunt, Princess Mary, held the title until her death in 1965 \u2013 which was long after the late Queen ascended to the throne in 1952. Since King Charles has no daughters of his own, his eldest granddaughter could be the next to hold the title.<\/p>\n
The prospect of Charlotte getting the title would be dependent on two major factors though \u2013 William would have to be monarch and Anne would need to no longer be alive.<\/p>\n
